South Loop bathroom remodeling

How do you upgrade a builder-grade condo bathroom without a full gut?

The South Loop has a large share of condo towers, mid-rises, converted lofts and townhomes, much of it built in recent decades. Many bathrooms are serviceable but builder-grade.

Planning a project in South Loop?

Just a first name and phone number. Everything else is optional.

Chicago Bathroom Remodels is an independent referral resource, not the contractor who would perform your project. Your request may be shared with an independent remodeling professional when one is available. Please verify licensing and insurance before hiring anyone. See our privacy policy.

Housing you'll commonly see

Condo towers, lofts and townhomes make up most of the housing, generally newer than in surrounding areas. Every property is different, so treat this as context rather than a description of your home.

Swap the parts you touch

A new vanity and top, valve trim, mirror, lighting and a glass panel can change the room without disturbing shared plumbing.

Tub-to-shower in towers

Converting a tub in a high-rise may be limited by slab and drain position. Low-curb designs are usually the practical path.

Can I replace just the shower tile?

Yes, though once tile is removed, it's wise to inspect and update the waterproofing.
